Carrie Ann Thunell
USA
cat on my lap
her warmth is a quilt
against loneliness
simple coffee shop banter
miles away
city park
the forest trail scattered
with bright colors
fallen crumpled masks
mark our throw-away world
in April
business and traffic shut down
the silence
is filled with birds and frogs
deer cross the empty street
news scrolling by
full page of the virus stats
the percolator
fills the air with the sound
and scent of brewing
sun salutations
flow before each dawn
the quiet
of my practice
of the city streets
the virus
forced early retirement
stack of bills
small house in need of paint
we fought, then fell in love again
